Looking at a weston tube checker model 981 type 3. want a tv-7 d/u but my be out of my price range. The weston goes to 24000, i think the tv7 goes to 60000gm . I also noticed that the weston has limited data so cannot checl a lot of tubes like 2a3. Looking for a chart for the tv-7 to see what tubes it can check. Any input, the weston works for 125 .

That's not a bad price for the Weston. A bird in the hand, etc. There is not as much data available, as you noted. TV-7 data can be found on the late Nolan Lee's website (I don't know offhand where it is archived). Differences in the maximum Gm ranges are a minor consideration, as high ranges are rarely if ever needed.

If you continue to keep an eye out for a TV-7, any of the letter models work just as well; there's no need to limit your search to a D.

Thanks, I see a lot of data for the tv-7. I read somewhere that a heathkit tt-1 is the same as the weston and that tester has a lot of tube listings. Will most likely get the weston and continue to look for an affordable tv7

Good luck with the TV-7 search. I have seen prices drop a little on them lately and then see the next one sell at a premium.

I have been looking for a good Supreme made TV-7 at a reasonable price for my collection and workbench for some time now.

If you don't want that 981-3 let me know, I'd love to have one!
