PostSubject: Zenith tuning belt replacement   Sun Oct 17, 2010 3:16 pm

I have a 1939 Zenith 12 tube console that's been recapped but the dial belt seems to be slipping as I can not get the dial needle to move nor tune in any stations.

I think I may be able to do this change of the belt myself (a big step for yours truly) but where do I get the correct belt and how do I specify the right size belt ?

Thanks in Advance

Bruce in Moline

Here is where I get mine Bruce. All you need it the model #. Don't need to know the belt size. If your radio has motorized tuning, make sure you order the either/both belts you need.

Good product and fast shipping. If you have a shutterdial model, it will take a bit more work than others, but it will give you an excuse to clean everything will. Many have used the cut and super glue method with good results. I would rather tear it apart myself. To each their own.

Go to any auto parts store and get a rubber "O" Ring. The largest is around 3 1/4". They work the best!

Bruce, I stock a universal round belt that tracks better than the flat ones, and has just the right amount of "give" to it. Its .140 ga too, perfect for most any tuning belt set up. Its way cheaper too, and you just superglue it after cutting to length of snug minus 1/4". Email me at moppat at comcast dot net.
