W3JN was selling a pair of globe 42's on the old ARF, dont know if he has wandered over here yet.

I believe you can use a 42 or a 41 tube pretty much interchangeably in old radios. It makes no difference to the performance of the set if it is a globe tube or an ST tube. They are both reasonably available. Current draw is less with a 41 tube.

I did a test with a 42 from another set and just ran into an apprearent shorting issue being caused elsewere in the set. So I'm going to hold off on the tube replacement for now until I figure out what's causing that first.

Since his link was to a globe 42 I "assumed" that was what he wanted. Globe 42's are very scarce and pricey.
