PostSubject: Value of Antique Tubes?   Mon Oct 18, 2010 5:14 pm

Dear Fellow Members-Would appreciate any info concerning some NOS appearing antique tubes. One is a Philmore UX-199 in the Philmore box, one is a Sylvania brass based UX-201A and 2 Cunningham CX299's. Although I have an I-177 tube tester, I don't think that it tests anything this early. Is there any way that I can measure continuity? Would like to ascertain the value of these tubes, if possible. Thanx for any info:)-Gearhead

As you most likely know, these tubes were used in old battery sets. For the '01a, I would pay no more than $30, but that's just me.

A Sylvania that early is very unusual.

You can check filament continuity with an ohmmeter. The UX99 will fit the I-177 directly; the others would require adapters or clip leads.

There was a "short pin tube adaptor" made to adapt the short pin tubes to standard long pin.
I have one in my stash to test the short pin tubes with.
