Zagat Survey – the highly regarded restaurant-rater – has released a list of the 1,000 greatest movies of all time. The list was compiled with the input of more than 20,000 people, who rated films on Zagat.com.
As is the case with its restaurant rankings, each film was judged on a 30-point scale. Each movie’s overall score combines user votes in four categories: overall quality, acting, story and production values.

1) "The Godfather" (1972)

2) "The Godfather Part II" (1974)

3) "Casablanca" (1942)

4) "Schindler's List" (1993)

5) "Lawrence of Arabia" (1962)

6) "To Kill a Mockingbird" (1962)

7) "Star Wars" (1977)

8 ) "The Wizard of Oz" (1939)

9) "Lady Eve" (1941)

10) "Singin' in the Rain" (1952)

11) "Rear Window" (1954)

12) "It Happened One Night" (1934)

13) "Citizen Kane" (1941)

14) "Shawshank Redemption" (1994)

15) "All About Eve" (1950)

16) "The Pianist" (2002)

17) "African Queen" (1951)

18) "Third Man" (1949)

19) "Finding Nemo" (2003)

20) "Dr. Strangelove" (1964)

If 'Zagat' means Zagat to be kidding! I agree.

Some of those movies should be on the list; some aren't worth the price of popcorn.

Huh? Finding Nemo on the same list as Casablanca and Citizen Kane?

I mean sure, it's a good animated film and all but in the top 25 movies ever? Shocked

The core premise for the list is flawed, since there can't possibly be "1,000 Best" of anything. "10 Best" sure, "100 Best", I'll even buy that. 1,000 Best, that's a joke. What's #997? "Moderately Crappy"??

Well someone said it before I could.
Of all the movies made in the 100 years,
"Finding Nemo" is in the TOP TWENTY!!!
Give me a break.

A few years ago there was a local election
for some position with the county,
one of the female candidates wrote in her
bio that "Finding Nemo" was her favorite
movie of all time...
She sure didn't get my vote.

Well, at least the authors of the list didn't automatically name Citizen Kane the top movie of all time. For years, Kane almost always topped critics' "best ever" lists. This list apparently recognizes how overrated the film is.

I assume this list consists only of American-made movies. Otherwise, I'd expect to see films by Bergman, Fellini, or Goddard somewhere in this top 20. Cool I mean, can anyone seriously argue that Finding Nemo belongs in the top 20, but La Dolce Vita and The Seventh Seal don't? Puhhh-leeeease.
