Anybody know what the phono cartridge output on a 40-509 was? I'm replacing the changer and it only has .5 V output which doesn't produce much vol. I'm guessing that the original had a 2V or possibly 3V output and I'm going to need a preamp.

the old Crystal carts put out up to 4v. Most were around 3V. A preamp will take a magnetic cartridge and push it up to .5v ceramic input range. But, I dont know of any preamps made to take a ceramic input and push it to line level range (enough to drive the old xtal input).
